Dropbox doesn't provide the ability to use a personalised link for sharing files, therefore using a 3rd party service is required.
Solution 1: URL Shortener
You can use a URL shortener service to generate a personalised sharing link using their domain or your own custom domain. The general process would be as follows:
- Create a Dropbox shared link to your file
-
You can choose to skip the Dropbox download page and force the file to download immediately by changing
the query parameter at the end of the shared link from
dl=0todl=1. - Create your personalised link within the URL shortener service which will point to the Dropbox shared link.
This solution works fine for occasional file sharing but can be time consuming for regular file sharing.
Solution 2: DropPages
One of the benefits DropPages provides is being able to access your Dropbox files via a personalised URL. This can be using your own domain (e.g. files.mycompany.com) or a personalised DropPages domain (e.g. myfiles.droppages.site). There is no manual creation of links involved, you simply add files to Dropbox and they are automatically available via your personalised website address. This can be used for static website hosting, media hosting and file sharing.
